Here are a few pictures from our Sep. 11th hike to Kealia Pond Nature Conservancy. The expedition was a wonderful success, and thanks to our boy’s valiant efforts to be quiet, we saw many birds including both the Black Crowned Heron and an entire flight of the endangered Hawaiian Stilt. We talked about the Leave No Trace Policy and the Outdoor Code. We also discussed why nature preserves are important and the role of Wild Life Conservation Officers. You will see below one of the birds we spotted; the Black –Crowned Heron.
