India Report #2 from Hyderabad Oct 14, 2011
Dear Family and friends:
It was so good to hear from some of you that you received and appreciated Report #1. We have received and posted the corrections we heard about for two of the three that did not go the first time. One that came back had Cubicle in it. If any of you know of someone with that in their email address, please let us know.
Today we are to leave at noon for the Section Office in Sangareddy in preparation for the Sanctuary Seminar tomorrow all day (Sabbath). We expect to stay there Friday and Sabbath night and head for Pitlam on Sunday where the series is expected to be. I say “expected” because we just learned that the people who gave permission to use the land again this year have changed their mind due to some opposition. So we may have to find another place in a nearby village for the series. The handbills have been printed already so it would require further advertising by sound car to announce the change. Satan is always busy, but the Lord is more powerful and can make the best come out of it. The trouble is that we don’t know until AFTER the fact. That’s where faith comes in and we live by faith.
Yesterday was a catch-up day rather than another day of touring. We slept a good bit of the day and I got the telegu texts to be used in my Sanctuary presentation, into my computer and inserted where needed in the power-point graphics. The pain from my back disc degeneration is under control and that helps to get the necessary sleep. So, our concerns are being met, as usual, by the Lord at the right time.
Your prayers concerning the logistics of the meeting are much appreciated. Our tight schedule does not have room for much delay.
In our jet-lagged state yesterday, I discovered a problem with the rest of the trip. The tickets for our flight from Kolkatta to Aizawl (Mizoram) on November 2, came via email. When I opened the email and read 3,300 Rupies for each of us each way, it sounded high. Using the calculator I checked out the price in U.S. $ and misread the decimal points. So it looked like it would cost us $2,500 for that short flight and that is almost as much as our tickets from USA to India cost. So, we were unwilling to spend that much for so little and decided we would cancel that part of the trip and ask our Mizo “son” Biaka to do the series for us. Then we could use that saved personal money to give additional help to the projects. We tried to phone Biaka but neither of us could hear properly even with different connections. I did get through that he should read my email to him that morning and respond via email. It happened and the mistake was found. So rather than costing $2,500 it will actually be $287. What a relief! The trip should continue as originally planned.
We just got word that we check out and leave at 10 rather than 12 as previously announced. So we are in the final rush. “The final movements will be rapid ones.”
We hope to get an internet attachment for the computer that will allow us to send and receive wherever we are in India without the Internet Café usual confusion.
In His love,
Dad and Mom (Glenn and Mary Alice)
