Keynote Speakers for SSFRS 2019

Professor Lorna Dawson is the Head of Forensic Soil Science at the James Hutton Institute and has over 30 years' experience in managing and conducting research in soil and plant interactions. She was awarded a Special Recognition award at the Pride of Britain 2017 and a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for services to Soil and Forensic Science in 2018.

Mr. Neil Coupar is a former police officer with over 16 years' experience as a Forensic Science Examination Team Leader. He is also an authorised forensic scientist in the field of firearm examination who has worked on a number of high-profile cases. He is now a lecturer at Abertay University.

Discussion Group Leaders for SSFRS 2019

Dr. Peter Maskell

Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science at Abertay University with significant experience working in forensic toxicology. He was a Case Active Forensic Toxicologist responsible for quality management of the laboratory under contract from the Scottish Crown Office.

Dr. Craig McKenzie

Senior Lecturer at the University of Dundee and co-director of the Forensic Drug Research Group in the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification. He previously worked with the SPA Forensic Services as a reporting forensic scientist.

Roy Mudie

Application Specialist at the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science who focuses on supporting forensic science through pushing the technological requirements the field requires.

Dr. Alexander Gray

Principal Investigator at the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science who focuses on forensic DNA techniques. His past research interests centred around molecular biology, specifically DNA manipulation methods and biochemistry related to cellular signalling.
