Planning and Activities
I believe that my role is to fully support the educational needs of the children in my care. I work with the parents to ensure that their child's development is in line with their aspirations and that the child's full potential is realised.
Although I am not a nursery with a curriculum to follow, I use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
I plan activities in line with delivering to government guidelines and initiatives, such as the EYFS. These encompass what is described as the '6 areas of learning':
Creative Development
Communication, Language and Literacy
Physical Development
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
I try to pick themes that the children might like to learn about. The children decide the next steps from their interest in a theme or their new ideas might take us in a completely different direction for which I then plan.
Some of our activities include:
Painting; with sponge, finger, hands or feet, brushes
Gluing; collage pictures, junk models, glitter, cards
Clay and Play-doh. Shop bought and homemade with different colours/glitter/sequins
Sand and Water play
