My name is Joanne Hiley (Jo) and I am 33 years old. I have 2 daughters, Harriet is 8 and Olivia is 7. I also have a son, Liam, who is 3. My husbands name is Andrew. We live in a 4 bedroom, town house in West Wick, just past the Bucket and Spade and quite close to Morrisons.
I qualified as a nursery nurse in July 1997 but have achieved most of my experience through looking after my own 3 children. I had various work placements during my course ranging from schools to home placements and children aged from 0 to around 8.
Since leaving college, I have mainly worked in administration. I was made redundant in September 2010 after almost 10 years of working for the same company as a Knowledge Co-ordinator (fancy name for writing processes and procedures). I decided at that time that I would complete the Introduction to Homebased Childcare course and become a childminder. I have also recently worked for the NHS as a clerk to the Health Visitors and School Nurses, this role has given me a wider knowledge of children in the community. It has made me realise that I can be a valuable part of a child’s life and help to watch them grow and flourish in my care.
My husband Andrew…
Andrew (or Andy) is an Assistant Manager at an Architectural Ironmongers and Locksmiths in Weston. He has worked there for the last 10 years. He works full time, Monday – Friday and every other Saturday morning. When he is at home, he is usually cooking, cleaning, tidying or in the garage thinking up his next DIY project!
My children…
Harriet (Harri) and Olivia (Livvy) both go to Herons Moor Primary School.
Harri is a ‘mini mum’ and loves to help around the house and look after her little brother. She is very outgoing and never seems to stop. She is always looking for something exciting to do such as painting, sticking, cooking etc. Harri is very girly and into all things pretty!
Livvy is fairly quiet and happy to go along with anything - very laid back and easy going. She is a bit of a tom boy and is usually playing with her cars or one of her other ‘boys toys’. Livvy is definitely not girly like her sister and would much rather wear her Ben 10 or Mario sweater!
Liam is a typical 3 year old boy and into everything. He is always smiling and will chat to absolutely anyone that will listen. He’s a very cheerful chap that loves playing inside and out (and watching Something Special).
