Food and Drink policy
I try and cater to all children’s individual needs, when it comes to providing food
and drinks at my setting.
Children have access to fresh drinking water at all times of the day whilst in my care.
They choose a cup/sports bottle/beaker when they arrive and this remains their
cup throughout the day. This prevents children from sharing cups.
Children are encouraged to try all foods on their plate; however children will not be
forced into eating anything if they do not wish to do so.
Please see my 'What do we eat?' lists for a sample of the food that I will provide.
If you would prefer, you may bring food for your child and this will be stored/
served appropriately.
Please note: I do not provide breakfast
Snacks:
I provide a range of healthy, fun snacks twice a day for all children. At these times
children can also choose and pour their own drinks of water or milk. I encourage
all children to help prepare their own snacks, to enable them to learn about healthy
eating and encourage independence.
Lunch:
If your child is with me at lunchtime, and is contracted for 4 or more hours that
day, I will provide a light lunch.
Tea:
If your child is with me at tea time, and is contracted for 4 or more hours that day,
a hot tea will be provided for them.
Note: If your daily contract time is for less than 4 hours and you would like your child
to eat with us, then you can either provide a healthy lunchbox, or I can provide a
meal for them at a charge of £1.50.
All lunchboxes will be stored appropriately in the fridge.
General Info:
I will always inform you what your child has eaten throughout the day in your
child’s daily diary and through daily feedback.
If your child has any specific dietary needs or allergies, please come and have a chat
to me about this so we can come up with some suitable menu choices together.
Babies under 12 months must bring their own food and drinks
due to possible allergies.
