Candidate Statements for Board Election in November 2022


Hello Springfield Neighbors,


The Nominations Committee has received notice of the intent to stand for election for candidates for every position authorized in the Bylaws.

Additional candidates may join the election anytime including from the floor at the Community Meeting on November 15. However, the voting begins the week before the meeting and ends on November TBD.

Only SCA members may vote. Join the SCA for $30 a year https://sca.membershiptoolkit.com

Additional candidate statements received at nominations@springfield20816.com will be posted and distributed promptly.

Candidates who join the race after TBD November will be write-in candidates as the ballots will be created electronically on the TBD.

At the SCA virtual Community meeting on November TBD, each candidate will be allowed two (2) minutes to speak prior to the election. Please respect this 2-minute limit and the time of all of those attending the election.

Candidate Statements for Board Election in November 2022 for SCA Board Roles 2022 - 2023

President

• Lead the Board

• Preside over community meetings

• Cast tie-breaking vote if needed


1st Vice President

• Assist the President

• Stand in for President in any absence


2nd Vice President

• Assist the President

• Manage social events, including the annual Kids' Halloween Party


Secretary

• Record & distribute minutes of Board & Community meetings


Newsletter & Communications Officer

• Direct the creation and distribution of the newsletter 2-4X a year

• Manage other communications efforts


Treasurer

• Accept & disburse monies

• Produce financial statements and recommendations

• File taxes

• Manage our insurance provider


Zoning Officer

• Monitor zoning changes in the county

• Serve as liaison to the Citizens' Coordinating Committee on Friendship Heights

• Update residents on the above


• Communicate with County & State on traffic & road issues

• Update residents on the above

• The Security role is concerned with public safety issues affecting our neighborhood.

• A primary responsibility is the liaison with MC police District 2.


Membership Officer

• Works to make it easy to become a member

• Manages the AtoZ Directory.


Environment Officer

• Communicate with County & State on resident issues including trees, airplane noise, and other environmental issues

• Work with the County to plant trees

• Work on other environmental issues in the community
