Meetings:
We will have an introductory meeting and take a group photo for our postcard. This will take place March 29, 2019 between 6pm and 9pm in Oldershaw Hall. We will host a Native American speaker and a musician. A basket will be passed to collect donations for the St. Kateri Center.
We will also meet after the team blessing, scheduled for Sunday, July 21st at the 11:00 a.m. mass
Stock sales:
We will be promoting and selling stock together. This helps cover the cost of van rental and food while traveling and other trip expenses. It also helps our church community become aware of who we are and feel more connected to us and to the mission. Our stock sales will take place after all the masses on May 4th and 5th and June 8th and 9th. Usually, we begin promoting 2 wks prior to each sale by handing flyers out after the masses. We will be either in the general announcements or someone from the group will give a special announcement at each of the masses the week before the sale.
Pre-trip Experiences:
We will plan some other pre-trip experiences to familiarize ourselves with the culture and history of the Native American people. You are also welcome to explore opportunities on your own. See Learning opportunities.
A group activity may include some of the following: a trip to the Kateri Center of Chicago (also see their Facebook page), watching a movie together, a trip to a museum, a book or article discussion, or other service activity as a group. We may make copper pendants together. These will present opportunities to learn, share and bond as a team. Although we will try to accommodate schedules for potential group activities, we are aware that we all have busy lives and may have to miss some of these opportunities.
Post trip potluck
We will have a post trip potluck or brunch with our church community to share our stories.
