Porsche Carerra GT1

Porsche Carrera GT1 featured in the "Great Model Department" of Scale Auto Enthusiast Magazine - February 2010!

This is a conversion of the Tamiya Porsche Carrera GT1 from street to race compliant ALMS GT1 class racing car.

The Concept: When first reviewing the Porsche Carrera GT it became apparent that the Carrera had many similar lines to the Porsche 908/3 sport racer. Based on this similarity it was decided to kraft the conversion of the Carrera to a racing sports car for the Le Mans/ALMS Gt1 Class reviving livery elements of one of the more obscure but interesting versions of the 908/3.

Modelling Objective: The objective of this model was to fabricate a rules compliant racing conversion of the Porsche Carrera GT using resin castings in combination with Evergreen plastic shapes, brass, solder and aluminum

Starting Point To convert the car for racing the following modifications were require. - FIA roll cage - racing engine management system - racing exhaust - communication radio - racing driver with HANS device - racing tires and wheels

Extensive scratch building in plastic, resin, aluminum, solder, brass and decals was employed.
