Lacrosse
SOTH's Capitol Hill Lacrosse offers Fall and Spring lacrosse programs for boys 5-8 years old and girls 5-11 years old. No experience is necessary.
The fee $60 per session. Financial scholarships are available.
Practice sessions are on Sunday afternoons at Kingsman Field (13th and D St. NE).
What to expect:
Practices for 5-8 year olds, boys and girls, typically include skills-focused clinic instruction and light scrimmaging without protective equipment.
For our older players, girls 9-11, which require additional protective equipment, focus is on skills as well as simulated game play.
For families who want to participate in full equipment practices (helmet, arms pads, gloves) for boys are encouraged to participate in the DC-based WINNERS lacrosse program.
Equipment:
Sticks are provided to those who need them.
Families are asked to provide mouth guards - cheaper than a dental bill. Cheap options available online or at local sporting goods stores.
For 9-11 year old girls, eye protection is required. Women's Lacrosse goggles are available online or at local sporting goods stores.
David Wolfel (202-297-6372 or 03allen55@gmail.com) is the commissioner and directs sessions with assistance from a dedicated number of volunteer coaches, (high school players, parents and community members).
We are always looking for new volunteer coaches, particularly for our boys’ program - your support is appreciated. No coaching experience is necessary, just the desire to have a good time with a great bunch of kids on Sunday afternoons.
