Alternative Assignments are intended for Students under the age of 18 to achieve SONA credits
NOTICE: Submissions must not be plagiarized. Plagiarism is a form of cheating. If a student is suspected of plagiarism, the RPP Coordinator will investigate the manner. If it is established that the student plagiarized, a penalty will be assessed according to University policy, and the Center for Students’ Rights and Responsibilities may be notified. Please see our policies for further information.
If you are under 18, SONA will not allow you to create an account since it asks for your birthday. Instead, please email untsonarep@yahoo.com your full name, UNT student ID, birth date, course number, course section, course instructor, and the days you meet for class. This way, we will be able to create an account to grant you your credits.

Overview
Students who are under 18 years of age or who do not wish to include their data in a UNT IRB-approved psychological experiment can participate in an experiment simulation. These simulations provide students with the experience of participating in psychological science without the need for consent, since no identifiers or data will be collected.
Requirements
Students who choose to engage with a simulation instead of a SONA experiment will complete four experiment simulations of their choosing. Students must submit a summary of each experiment simulation and a screenshot of their results by copying and pasting it into the image box in the provided Word document. A Pass grade is required to earn the experimental credit.
Simulation Options
Five experiment simulations are available at Open Psychology Labs.
The IAT experiment simulations for adults are available at Project Implicit (Harvard.edu). Simply click on Take Test after reading the disclaimer and acknowledging that you might be presented with results you don't agree with.
The IAT is a measure of implicit bias. You can choose which implicit bias you want to be tested for. Some options are gender, weight, race, and presidents.
The IAT experiment simulations for minors are available at Project Implicit Youth (Harvard.edu).
The Youth IAT presents implicit bias examples for pets, such as comparing cats to dogs.

Instructions
To submit your experiment simulation, complete the document Psychological Experiment Simulation. Next, email the completed document to the SONA rep for grading by the deadlines provided in your syllabus. The first two summaries are due by the SONA Part I deadline, and the remaining two summaries are due by the SONA Part II deadline.
Submitting the assignments: Assignments must be submitted for credit by the respective due dates, at least half by the semester midpoint, and the remaining at the end of the semester date to untsonarep@yahoo.com. For exact dates, please see the due dates tab
Students may submit their assignments directly to untsonarep@yahoo.com. If the assignment is satisfactory, the student’s credits will be sent to the corresponding professor and student. The student should keep a copy of their work until grades are received in case there is a discrepancy in the records. If a student’s assignment is unsatisfactory, the student will be notified, and the student must resubmit after appropriate revisions. Resubmissions are also due on the given date.
