General Site Questions
I don't see my section listed in the course list. What do I do?
First, double check. Chances are that you overlooked your course and section. If you still don't see your course, talk you your instructor and make sure that they have made arrangements to have their course added. If they have and it still isn't listed, send us an e-mail and we can track down the issue.
Is SONA the same as Canvas?
No. SONA and Canvas are completely different. To access SONA, click here
How do I reassign credits to a different course?
If you want to do this before the end of the semester, log in to your sona account and click "Change Course Assignment." Then you can choose the course(s) you want. Then, go to each credit you earned and click "Reassign." You can then reassign each credit to the correct class. If you have difficulty, or if it is past the last day to participate in research, send us an e-mail.
How do I select more than one course?
While selecting your courses on the SONA page, hold the CTRL button. This allows you to select more than one course.
Why won't the system let me login?
If you have failed to show up for 3 or more research studies, you are blocked out of the SONA system. If you are unsure if this is what has happened to you, send us an e-mail .

Researchers are continually adding more studies, so keep checking back regularly. But keep in mind that you may also complete Research Summaries for credit, given that it is prior to the due date.
I am under 18, what should I do for credits?
1. If you are under the age of 18, you will not be allowed to take studies for SONA credits. Instead, please submit 3 article summaries to untsonarep@yahoo.com, following the guidelines linked here.
I am under 18, how do I create my SONA account?
1. If you are under 18, SONA will not allow you to create an account since it asks for your birthday. Instead, please email untsonarep@yahoo.com your full name, UNT student ID, birth date, course number, course section, course instructor, and the days you meet for class. This way, we will be able to create an account to grant you your credits.
Research Summaries
When are SONA summaries due?
There are typically two due dates for summaries each semester. If you would like an opportunity to receive feedback and make revisions to your summaries, your summaries are due two weeks before the final deadline in order to give time for revision. For specific dates, click here. No late papers will be accepted, so please plan ahead.

Given the large number of summaries that are turned in, please allow two weeks to receive credit. If you haven't received credit after this time, send us an e-mail .
How many credits is each summary worth?
Upon successful completion, each summary is worth a total of four (4) credits.
Grade & Research Credit Issues
I completed my credits, but my professor didn't get them. What happened?
Most likely, you have chosen the wrong section for your course. Double check that your course and section number are correct. If this isn't the problem, contact the sona representative.
Can you update my research credits on Canvas?
Canvas and SONA are different systems. If you have research credit on Canvas, this is an issue you should discuss with your instructor.
I completed a study and still haven't received credit. What do I do?
Keep in mind that a large number of participants complete studies each day. Allow the researchers 2 business days to assign credit. If you still have not received credit after the second day, send them an e-mail reminding them that you participated and still have not received credit. If this does not resolve the issue, contact us.
I am short one credit. Is there anything I can do to earn this one credit?
You may participate in any remaining studies, or if it is prior to the Summary deadline you may complete a Research summary for credit. You may have to go over by one or two credits, depending on available studies.
