I agree with the problem identified in this article but not with the solution. I don't think there is an professional, organized solution to this. If you want pickup soccer, the kids and their parents have to solve it.
For us, we're already playing pickup, right? What about having the kids play? Some of us have already been doing that. I propose that, rather than play with the adults though, the younger players should be playing their own game. I think that's important for them and for us. We both need our own game.
We could support that easily. Most of the places that we play have room for a second game on a nearby field or space. Bring your kids to pickup but give them their own game. I think that, once they get into that, they'll do it on their own anyway.
Oh, and burn that Xbox FIFA 13. That's part of the problem too.
