If you are playing in any of the pickup games listed on the site, please take the time to bring a white and a red shirt. This has pretty much become a standard with the regulars who play. It helps the game a great deal. Hope you agree.
For the most part, assume that the game is on. Indoor or outdoor, weather does not stop us from playing. However, sometimes towns close the grass fields when they are too wet and in the winter our field can become snow covered. If there are any problems, a notice will be posted on the announcements page of this site and an email will be sent out.
Every once in a while, we end up with too many players. This problem is certainly much better than not having enough to play. If we do run into this problem, running the games using substitutes waiting on the sidelines is really not favored by our group. Instead, one of two options are recommended.
We can split into two small sided games run on half the field. After 30 minutes, we can call the games and the winners from each can play each other.
An option is to play a round-robin format with three teams. On team is on the sidelines. For this reason, the games should run for 10 to 15 minutes only. For the first round, the winner stays on and plays the sidelined team. After that first round, no team stays on for more than two games in a row. So, no matter what the score, after that first round, each team stays on for two games before rotating off. This means that you are never off for more then 10 to 15 minutes and that, except for that first losing team, you stay on for 20 to 30 minutes of play.
