Two CAS faculty members have been hailed as outstanding for 2016 by the University's Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE), awarded during the 10th anniversary celebration of SLSU's Universityhood, March 16, 2017.
Dr. Marissa C. Esperal was recognized as the University's "Outstanding Faculty with Designation" for 2016 in recognition of her excellent teaching performance and research work while designated as Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Esperal is the former Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. She teaches in the undergraduate Psychology program of the College as well as general education Psychology across all curricular programs in the University.
Mr. Nicanor Guinto was likewise hailed as the "Outstanding Faculty" for 2016 in recognition of his performance last year in teaching and research. He was also awarded the "Exemplary Behavior Award" by the same committee in 2015. Mr. Guinto is currently on study leave for his PhD at the University of Hong Kong and King's College, University of London in Hong Kong and in London. Before he left for his PhD, he was the Research Coordinator of the College, and taught in its undergraduate Communication program as well as general education English across all curricular programs in the University.
The PRAISE Awards are the highest recognition given by the University. Every year, the University's PRAISE Committee conducts evaluation of all faculty members, non-teaching staff, department offices, and Colleges to give due recognition to the efforts of those who have notably excelled in their work, often beyond the call of duty.
In 2014, during the first PRAISE Awards, Prof. Irene Irna Lomibao of the Natural Sciences department was the first to have been given the "Outstanding Faculty Award". This shows the College's and its academic staff's commitment to quality education for the students of the University, and the community. - CAS Web Development Team
