Finesse snap settings

It snaps to:

  • corners (endpoints)

  • midpoints

  • edges

  • faces

  • screen

That's all there is - no more to snap to.

Although snapping cannot be turned off, there are some settings that adjust snapping tolerances in the Model Info dialog box. Go to Window Model Info Units.

Length/Angle Units

The snap option in the 'Units' dialog box in SU is just for snapping to a virtual grid. Turning off length snapping still leaves snapping (to other geometry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!} ON.

Regardless of chosen format, changing the snapping precision values to smaller values and extend out the decimal precision of the Angle Units to adjust what the inference engine will target for snapping.

That's all there is - no more to snap to.

Keyboard modifiers

And holding down [Shift] does not turn it off either - rather it suspends gravity. It "only" constrains moving the mouse location in 3D space to stay on:

  • one of the axes

  • an edge

  • a guide

  • a face or on section plane

(Don't think anything has been missed, but just in case, etc.)

But even then SU snaps to relevant geometry with the restrictions as mentioned above.

You cannot turn off 'snapping to.'

And when finished adjusting these settings, save them to a Template.
