This aerial photograph shows the remains of the Sigiriya Water Garden. The garden carries a mirror image of itself on either side (North to your left and South to your right). The North side of the garden is not excavated. The large upside down 'L' shaped structure is the large swimming pool with a natural rock formation in the middle of it. Dark square shape is the second swimming pool which you can clearly see the reflection of Sigiriya on its water. The water park stretches from the inner rampart at the west gate to the base of Sigiriya rock where it meets a series of caves and rooms. In the next few pages I will take you through a set of photographs I have taken through these ruined water garden which was once a playground of a king.Click on the image to zoom in.

This photograph was taken from the non excavated (left half) north side water garden. You can see the Sigiriya in the distance.
