Bal Krishen Bhat

While doing graduation Shri Bal Krishen Bhat got admission in the Indian system of Medicine (B.U.M.S) in Aligarh Muslim University. He was an English Literature student and knew the language very well. Shri Bal Krishen Bhat and Shri Tribhwan Nath Bhat were students of Gandhi Memorial College Srinagar. I remember Shri T. N. Bhat quoting professor D. N. Madan telling the students in his class, in a passing reference about an ex-student of the college, (namely about Shri Bal Krishen Bhat), that his (Shri Bal Krishen's) English was superb and he knew words which Mr Madan (a veteran himself in the language) was ignorant of.

He was the third eldest son of late Hakim Shyam Lal Bhat. Popularly known as Baltoth, was a poet, a singer, and a lovely, healthy, philanthropist personality. He was gregarious in nature and had a vast friend circle. His friends were always roaming around him like drones move around a queen-bee.

He died at a very young age in February 1984. During the period of his illness, all his friends vanished. At the time of his death, he was serving the J&K Health Department as Medical Officer.

He married to Kishni Wali the daughter of Late Shri Niranjan Nath Wali. Her pet name in the family was Dula Babi. She was a nice and lovable person and full of tolerance which none of the ladies in our family then possessed. She never did shriek her help to others even when she herself was suffering from a terminating disease. I remember she was highly active, working here and there, in the marriages of Veerandra Koul and Dr Ayushman Bhat. She also died young in August 1986.

They have three children. The eldest is a daughter Girja. After completing graduation in Home Science she got married to Mr Sunil Dhar. She is a teacher in Jammu.

Yoginder Bhat is the second in the hierarchy and after his graduation, he had to leave Srinagar and started a business concern. In business he did good work and finally realizing his expertise in the communication field was given an executive post by a multinational company.

Rajni the youngest of all and after completing her graduation got married to Mr.Naveen Mattoo.She is in service and serving an International Organization.
