* Walter's last name and age (as well the first name of his father - "Joseph" or "George") would vary, depending on publication. While some sources spelled it Rojak, Rojeck, Rozak or Rozek, this website initially chose to use "Rojek", which seems to be used in the majority of articles ---- although, as seen, not in the caption of the 2 photos posted here.
Further research has found that "Rozek" was the spelling of the family name in the 1930 Census and the South River section of New Brunswick Town Directories in the 1920s, headed by father George and mother Annie/Anna, at 18 Holmes Ave., approx 2 blocks from R & P Wash Suit Co. at Water and Martin.
The 1940 Census spells the name "Rozak" - with 3 daughters at home:
Helen, 22, Sophie, 18, and Irene, 10. Mother Anna listed as "Dressmaker" and Sophie as "Over Coat Operator".
Anna Rozek Kozlowski's 2006 obituary (3 years younger than Walter) also spells it with a "z".
