The town of Roosevelt, also referred to as "Chrome" (an unincorporated section of town) in reports of the strike at the time, is now known as Carteret.
"The Roosevelt case" refers to the 1915 strike of chemical workers in which private guards, hired by Middlesex County Sheriff Houghton, shot and killed strikers. See ROOSEVELT STRIKE
