Life of Seniors in the European Union

Learning about everyday life of seniors in the participants' countries of origin was a very important aim of this project. In this section we present you the input of the discussions we had during the first day of our workshop prepared by Jerzy Jedliński from Polish-German Association in Kraków and the participants of our workshop ...

I am really enjoying the experience of meeting all of you from so many different countries. It is wonderful to have this chance to interact with all of you and to see that our life experiences are similar even though we come from different cultures. - Paddy Early on the blog SeniorWeb.

Yes, it was indeed special to all participants and organisers of this project to experience that we all are united in diversity. Although quality of life in various differs in various coutries of the European Union, there are many challenges that affect several societal groups across the whole continent. Thanks to the presentation of all participants about the situation of seniors in their countries of origin that were held according to the PechaKutcha method, we could learn about positive and more worrying developments that seniors are forced to struggle with. So on the one side, the focus was on such issues like poverty, loneliness or changes in life of societies in modern times and their consequences on intergenerational dialogue. On the other hand our participants presented their involvement in their local senior activities or the ideas how to improve the life of seniors.

We could find out many interesting things about seniors life in all of our countries. We saw that we have similar problems in global Europe. We can’t influence economic situation, but we are able to learn about good experiences from School of @ctive Senior, from our Polish colleagues and maybe try to do something usefull for the life of seniors in our country… - Vítězslava Cihlářová on the blog SeniorWeb.
