Gaining internet skills to become more skillful in the digital society was one of the crucial aims of the project Senior on the Web. Within the frame of the programme the participants learned new computer and internet tools as well as taking in some cases their first steps in using social media. Żaneta Bednarz, Monika Kucharczyk-Kubacka and Magdalena Baier presented the most relevant tools to the participants and provided support during the training sessions on computers. They were also supporting Clemens Schöll, our expert on blog in his task to teach seniors how to post their content on the blog.
These were the tools we were using during the workshops:
Clicking the link below you will find the guide on working with these tools prepared by Żaneta and Monika for the participants. It is based on their inputs during the workshop and is supposed to help the participants to use and share their skills after coming back home to their countries.
The highlight of the workshop for seniors was to familiarise themselves with the idea of the blog to encourage them to post on the SeniorWeb blog, created specifically for the project, as well as the use of such tools for their senior activities in their local communities, regions or countries. Although they were quite skeptical at the beginning, they were convinced very quickly of the advantages of creating a blog. They eventually enjoyed it and in the end were posting on various topics we dealt with during the workshop.
Clemens Schöll was working closely with participants helping them to brainstorm for ideas for their own blogs in the future. It was great watching their growing energy to engage in the blog project and discovering it for theirselves.

We learned about Gmail, Google Translator and how to write a blog for whole afternoon. That’s one of reasons, why we are here, how to use modern ICT technologies in our “old” age. That’s why we continued this topic in the computer room of the library also next day. Our heads were cooking sometimes from vast knowledge. But we received regularly coffee, cakes, juice, delicious food in every break. - Vítězslava Cihlářová on the blog SeniorWeb.
Yesterday I liked very much the lesson in the park, sitting togheter in front of the teacher in a sunny spring day. Ideal collocation for socializing and spending time in usefull and pleasent activity. A grateful activity and break in this very interesting workshop: an experience I hope to repeat. - Nicola Pasculli on the blog SeniorWeb.
