Solar Driven Membrane Distillation (September 2012 - June 2013)

The objective was the production of clean water and green electricity simultaneously. The innovation lies in the integration of the solar PVT system with the membrane distillation unit. The team consisted of 16 members from 6 different nationalities working from 6 different countries.

Sustainable Interconnecting Transportation (September 2011 - June 2012)

The objective is to investigate possibilities of improving interconnecting transportation (Ferry) between the island of Texel with the Dutch mainland (Den Helder). As part of the Texel municipality's ambition of becoming zero energy island by 2020, we analyzed various sustainable options - biofuels, smart lighting, insulation and use of PV and wind etc. The recommendations were well accepted by the shipping company and may be implemented in building of a new ferry.
