Apps & Technology

Both Raptor and Parent Square are web based, meaning staff can access each program online from their laptops instead of using the app on a personal device. There is NO requirement to for staff to use personal devices in order to utilize these programs. Staff are also not required to access the district's wireless networks from their personal devices. In fact, NEA-NH suggests that they keep their personal devices off district wifi.

Social Media

If you maintain social media accounts, be careful about what you post (this includes private accounts). We believe your best interest is not to identify yourself as a Salem School District teacher on any social media accounts. If you choose to associate yourself with the SSD on social media, either in words or graphics, please understand that you are opening yourself up to scrutiny by the SSD.

The NEA has an excellent article about this that you can read here

You can find recommendations regarding Facebook specifically here with directions on how to change your settings to protect your privacy.

We also encourage everyone to review the following school board policies:

Staff Use of Social Media Policy

Technology Responsible Use Policy

The SEA strongly urges our members not to provide students with their cell phone numbers or interact with students on social media. Please use ParentSquare, district email, Google Classroom, or Infinite Campus messenger for all school-related communication. This position is also supported by the NEA-NH. These official forms of communication provide documentation and an extra layer of protection. This recommendation is solely to protect our members from any unforeseen and unintended liability when communicating for school related purposes.
