ENGL 208: Detective Fiction
(Literature and Film)
Mysteries, action, and suspense: What more could you ask for in an elective class? Movies? We’ve got those, too. Dr. Sean Heuston will be teaching ENGL 208: Detective Fiction in Fall 2007. The reading list includes Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon, James Lee Burke’s In The Electric Mist With Confederate Dead, Raymond Chandler’s The Long Goodbye, Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones, and short stories from Best American Mystery Stories of the Century. We’ll also watch some great detective films, read some interesting essays about detective fiction, and deal with some critical thinking principles that will be valuable both within and beyond the classroom.
If you’ve got questions about the course, feel free to e-mail Dr. Sean Heuston (sean.heuston@citadel.edu) for details.
