Current research projects in the lab focus on:

1. Synaptic structure and function.

We want to understand how individual molecules are distributed within pre-synaptic terminals and how this influences the properties of neurotransmitter release from small central synapses.

2. Astrocyte control of synaptic transmission.

We ask how astrocytes regulate the spread of synaptic signals in the brain.

3. Synaptic basis of neuropsychiatric disorders.

We are interested in determining how changes in the activity of cortical synaptic circuits lead to the onset of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases.
