Garden Club Rules
Garden Lots
Garden lots shall be assigned and maintained in accordance with Articles 4 and 5 of the By-Laws.
A full lot is approximately 17 x 75 feet.
A half lot is approximately 17 x 37 ½ feet.
Mini lot is a box
Garden lots must not extend beyond the boundary markers.
Each gardener must leave one foot between lots to create a two-foot clear access area between gardens.
Memberships
Members must remain in good standing with the Community Association and maintain active, paid memberships with both the Community Association (CA) and Tillers & Toilers.
This requirement also applies to Helpers and Friends of the Garden.
In accordance with Community Association policy, individuals who are not members are not permitted to be Helpers or Friends of the Garden.
Appearance
Appearance is essential to our existence.
All garden lots must be kept neat and free of weeds, rubbish, or any other item that detracts from the overall appearance of the area.
This requirement includes the one-foot border access way on each side of lots.
Black Polyethylene Plastic
Black polyethylene plastic must be used to cover any garden that will not be tended for 30 days or more.
Grass clippings, mulch, and weed barriers are not sufficient to prevent weed problems.
Clear plastic may be used for up to 60 days to kill nematodes and other pests.
Garden Refuse
Garden refuse, including weeds and excess vegetation, boards, sticks, pots, boxes, plastic, and similar items, must be placed in the garden dumpster located at the entrance to the garden.
All items must fit inside the dumpster with the lid fully closed.
Garden Tools and Equipment
Club-owned garden tools and equipment must be cleaned after each use.
All tools are free to use except the tillers.
Tillers may be used by members for a fee of $5.00 per use.
All tools must be returned to the garden shed after use.
Water Usage
Do not waste water.
Only hand sprinkling with a shut-off valve is permitted.
Washing vehicles, including golf carts, or boats is prohibited.
Report leaking faucets or water lines to a Club officer.
Grass Clippings
Grass clippings ordered from a lawn service must be coordinated through the President or the President’s designated representative.
Any clippings dumped for an individual lot must be removed from the road area within three days.
Banana Plants
Existing banana plants must not exceed six feet in diameter as a cluster and must not create problems for neighboring gardens.
If banana plants become a problem, the Board may require them to be trimmed and/or contained.
Trees
Trees may not be planted on any lot without approval from the Executive Committee.
Trees existing as of January 3, 2020, are grandfathered in.
All garden fruit trees must be maintained at a height of 15 feet or less.
Enforcement
The Executive Committee shall enforce compliance with all garden rules.
