Welcome to the website of the Sun City Center Tillers & Toilers. In our website we have general information about our gardening club as well as various links that are helpful to our gardeners. Growing vegetables in Florida has its own challenges but can be very productive and rewarding.
Please be aware that the individual plots are “owned” by individuals. They do all the work and buy the fertilizer, seeds and plants. Please do not disturb any of the plants or pick any of the flowers or produce.
If you are a frequent visitor please consider joining our club as a Friend of the Garden.
If you are a visitor to our gardens, we welcome you.
The Tillers & Toilers club has approximately 150 members as helpers, friends of the garden and full members. Most gardening plots range from a 4x10 mini plot to a 17 x 32-foot garden plot. Your plot is yours to plant, maintain and harvest.
Plot Helpers are helping a garden member tend their plot.
Friends of the Garden do not work a plot but are part of our club. They get the club emails and are welcome to all the Tillers & Toilers events including the Thursday morning coffees.
Membership is available to all Community Association members of Sun City Center. Members gather at the pavilion for Thursday morning coffee and socializing. There is also a Christmas Potluck meal (really excellent) and participation in the Fun Fest and other activities at the main campus of Sun City Center.
Not a member and want to join?
If you are not a member and are interested in getting a garden plot, helping someone with a garden plot or simply being a Friend of the Garden you will need to fill out our online form. This is easy to do.
First: you need to go to the pavilion at our garden site in the West Campus off of W. Del Webb and look on the bulletin board (next to drinking fountain) for the sheet entitled: How to Join SccTillers & Toilers.
Second: follow the instructions and get on our waiting list. After you have the sheet with the instructions click here for the online form.
A good time to visit the pavilion is on Thursday at 9:00 AM. Most every Thursday we have coffee and treats and talk about gardening. You can visit with several of the gardeners and learn more about the Tillers & Toilers in an informal, relaxed atmosphere.
We look forward to welcoming you to the gardens. If you wish to become a full member with a garden plot please be aware that there is almost always a waiting list. It is possible that it will be many months before a garden becomes available for you.
To get started it is important that you are a CA member and have signed up on our website’s waiting list.
