TROJAN WOMEN

The Trojan wars start with the judgement of Paris, wherein Paris is asked by Hera, Athena and Aphrodite to judge who is the most beautiful of them all. Aphrodite bribes Paris with Helen and wins.

The other two gang up against her and decide to destroy her population.

Helen is kidnapped, the ships of Agamemnon cannot sail towards Troy without the sacrifice of his own daughter Iphiginea. Last minute Artemis brings a deer to be sacrificed instead of her but it is too late.

Troy falls through the deceit of the Trojan Horse and all the male population are killed and children are flung from the walls and the women are given away as war booty. The royal women are Hecabe the queen,Andromache wife of Hector, Cassandra sister of Hector and Polyxena the other sister of Hector who is immediately sacrificed at Achilles tomb. Helen shows up in her wedding dress and asks for forgiveness of her ex-husband. Cassandra wears flowers in her hair and is glad to go with Agamemnon to avenge her dead.

Scenes four depict the murder of Agamemnon by his wife Clytemnestra with an axe and the murder of Cassandra with her hands tied behind her back

Scene five depicts the murder of Clytemnestra by her daughter Electra

The center panel is the " Wheel of Fortune" by Edward Burne Jones over layered with an Adagio written of Alessandro Marcello reinterpred by the Secret Garden .(Right click and play in a new tab sometimes you need to go to the site to skip the ad)
