We can help with:
K-8: math and reading
9-12: math, science, biology, chemistry, physics
post secondary: calculus, statistics, linear algebra, physics, chemistry
We are located in the east end of Sault Ste Marie, ON.
Since 2020, we also work online through FaceTime, Google Meet or other online video calling platform.
We take appointments at our home at any time, most students come after school and into the evening, or on weekends. Free assessment for students K-8.
We always work one on one. We always work on what each student needs: what they bring us, or what our assessment shows they need to work on.
Dan Flaming (BSc, BEd): Math, Physics, tutor since 2004
Dan has students studying Math from grades 3-12 and has worked with aviation students (physics and calculus) from Sault College, and calculus students from Algoma University as well as many students at various universities around Ontario. Dan has students studying physics in grades 11 and 12, and science in grades 9 and 10.
Lisa Flaming (BSc, BEd): Reading, Chemistry, Biology, tutor since 2000
Lisa has students working on reading and writing from grades 1 - 8, and biology and chemistry students in grades 11 and 12 as well as nursing students (chemistry and biology) from Sault College and chemistry students from Algoma University. Lisa also has students studying science in grades 9 and 10.
Come to us to get extra time with a teacher! We have worked with students from all grade levels and consistently see improvement in confidence and grades.
We can provide your elementary student with homework help or getting up to grade level. To help establish a starting point, we offer a free assessment. The assessment will then be used to create a personalized program to help that student reach their achievement goals.
We can help with homework, or teaching concepts from previous years that may have been missed for high school and post secondary students.
We have a good understanding of the Ontario Curriculum and what is being taught in local schools from Algoma District School Board as well as the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board. We have also worked with students from Sault College in Aviation, and nursing and Algoma University taking physics and math courses.
Many of our regular local students have asked us to continue working with them online once they move on to post secondary studies elsewhere in Ontario.
Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University and is qualified to teach in Ontario.
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Zoology) from University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University and is qualified to teach in Ontario.
We have a good basis in computer usage and can help you develop your skills in Microsoft Windows, Office and Internet/Email basics.
