As part of the local 'Sustainability Sarratt' initiative, the village hall has a waste recycling policy, which all hall hirers and users must comply with.
There are 3 labelled recycling bins in the main kitchen, under the shelf between the cooker and the door:
one for glass bottles and cans,
one for plastic items, bottles and containers
one for cardboard and paper.
There are also labelled general waste bins in the main kitchen, the rear kitchenette, and each of the toilets, and a large Three Rivers green wheeled bin in the car park.
Signs in the kitchen and kitchenette point out the following: --
Small amounts of clean recyclable waste items may be put in the correct marked bins in the main kitchen.
Hirers must take away any large amounts of recyclable items (such as bottles) and put them in an appropriate recycling facility.
Only general waste (not recyclable items) must be put in the internal general waste bins or the external green wheeled bin.
On the same sustainability theme, Sarratt Viilage Hall's electricity supply is 100% renewable energy from a sustainable electricity supplier to businesses. The hall has been using this supplier for several years.
