Somerset and Dorset Postal History Group

We meet twice a year at Hornsbury Mill, Chard, TA20 3AQ in March and October, where we are entertained by guest speakers and members’ displays of Somerset & Dorset postal history as well as on broader aspects of postal history.

Our Autumn meeting for 2019 will be on Sunday 20th October 2019, when John Russell will display 'Scottish Islands' and Graham Mark will show 'South West England Prisoners of War'.

Our Spring 2019 meeting was on Sunday 10th March 2019 when Roger Martin discoursed on Bristol 'Over the Water', including Maritime mail and mail to/from foreign parts, Nick Bridgwater showed Bristol Penny Posts in Somerset and Bill Pipe displayed Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway, with members also putting up a frame or two of material of their own choice.  The Treasurer would be grateful for the annual subscription of £10, due from those members who could not attend the meeting.  An online copy of the Spring 2019 Journal is available here, password protected in the usual manner.

Our Autumn 2018 meeting was on Sunday 21st October when Bill Pipe displayed Wimborne and Blandford, and Nick Bridgwater showed Frome, Yeovil and places in-between (Bruton, Castle Cary, Shepton Mallet and Wincanton).  The meeting was grateful to Allen Cotton who agreed to take over from Mike Tombs as Treasurer.  An online copy of the Autumn 2018 Journal is available here, password protected in the usual manner (printed copies of the Autumn 2018 Journal will be available later).
