Description
Blink is a slender-esque first person horror game. This game was created to test the physiological and immersion effects of horror games on players, and this was done by measuring factors such as heartrate. The goal of the game is to collect 5 journal pages which are scattered around different 'attractor' locations on the map. The map itself is a realistic valley scene at night.
Blink was created in a few weeks using Unity Personal Edition and various slightly modified free assets. The player can move using the two movement axis, turn their flashlight on and off, and sprint for a certain amount of time. As the game continues, the pursuit of the monster becomes more frenzied, a heartbeat sound (which gets steadily faster) starts playing, and the player's flashlight dims. All of these effects serve to increase both the horror and the immersion of the game.
