SAJAIA has started the implementation of integrated emergency nutrition and health servicesin Jabal Habashy, Shara'b As Salam, Salah and Al Wazaieh districts of Taiz Governorate in
coordination with Government Health Offices (GHO), the project goals is to reduce the Global Acute Malnutrition rate through the identification and treatment of moderate acute malnutrition in children under 5, PLW and prevention of acute malnutrition of children 6 – 24 months, Improve the capacity of partners particularly ministry of health and local NGOs to ensure effective, efficient and coherent, decentralized nutrition response, and Contribute to the prevention of malnutrition by enhancing Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program, micronutrient supplementation, deworming and as well as strengthening the support, protection and promotion of Infant and Young Child Feeding practices for a year (Jan. 2017 – December. 2017), the project is targeting 30,221 Individual disaggregated (9,465U5, 7,169 PLW ,13,587U2 ) with MAM cases through provision of emergency health and nutrition. Two mobiles teams are operating in the targeted districts supported by 140 Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) targeting the second and third catchment population.
Each health and mobile team is composed of Physician, Nutrition Specialist, Childhood and Immunization Specialist, Reproductive health specialist, Nurse and Pharmacist.
