The same truth has been realized in different parts of the world, by men and women of different ethnic groups. Other traditions also addressed these eternal questions and were led to the same answer. Of these, the ones that I am aware of are the Sufi tradition (and the writings of Jalal-ud-din Rumi), the Christian tradition (and the sayings of Jesus Christ who was clearly an accomplished yogi), the Gnostic tradition, the Kabbalah in the Jewish tradition, and the Native American traditions. It is very likely that there are others that I am not aware of yet. What I think is special about the Vedic tradition is that it was transmitted continuously through the generations in India, and the path was preserved in a systematic form.
