Any spiritual practice is a potentially life-transforming venture, perhaps more so than any other venture in life. It is quite likely that sAdhanA may result in dramatic transformations in outlook, diet, lifestyle, life goals and behavior patterns. Usually all these changes result in a more harmonious and integrated person who is able to engage purposefully in the external world with an attitude of love and compassion because of a deeper understanding of the true meaning of life. But the outcome will depend on your constitution, your preparation and your past karma.
In certain cases the advanced practices of Yoga or Tantra can lead to severe breakdown of the person's physical system, or the energy body, and even lead to a mental state of psychosis that is termed madness in the Western psychological system.
There are good reasons why these practices were held secret for many centuries: the intent was that only those who were adequately prepared and trained should embark on the path. It was not to withhold the truth from anyone, but to protect the unprepared aspirant from these dangers. It is possible that those who are nowadays teaching or posting the bIja mantras and advanced practices for anyone to try are unaware of these difficulties or dangers. If that is the case, then the information on this page may make them reconsider the risk of teaching this esoteric subject without adequate knowledge.
So please click through and read all the links on this page PRIOR to attempting any of the Practices.
