We have woken up from spiritual ignorance in a world that is near its end, as the day is in its evening twilight. This is called Kali Yuga. The Yugas are experienced relative to the mind of the experiencer. Some ignorance is necessary for the very beginning of the phenomenal world experience as subject and object. In the first quarter of the world's existence, the mind was pure and recognized the Truth and acted accordingly. Progressively through repeated sense-experience spiritual ignorance got a stronger stranglehold and the world appears more dissonant to the individual viewpoint, and indeed to the common good. Concomitantly, the separation the individualized mind feels from the objects perceived is a measure of its spiritual ignorance. The smRti is the mind harkening back to its earlier pure state, and remembering that as a means to release from the very notion of Time.Â
