Classwork: All classroom assignments will have a 7 day grace period to submit on Canvas without penalty. A good faith effort completed submission after the grace period, will be assessed 10% late penalty until the closing date on canvas where the minimum score can be a 50%. Any assignment not turn after locked date in will result in a zero.
Labs are completed in groups several times during a unit. Grades for labs are based on a rubric and individual lab write-up.
Lab Notebook will be collected at the end of each semester. Notebooks will include Classwork, Labs, lectures and any other assignments not collected during the unit. (Can be digital or hardcopy)
Quizzes can be given at any time from the beginning or end of unit specific and will assess student comprehension of material
Assessments At the end of each unit, an exam or lab practical will be given to measure both comprehension or application of material presented
Projects will be given several times during the semester. They will be individual, group, or partner projects and may involve the computer lab or other research and a presentation. Group projects will be graded using a rubric and each student will be assessed on contribution to overall project
Final Exam/Practical will be given once at the end of each semester and will include topics covered in that semester and expected to apply techniques learned during their crime scene practical.
The Honesty, Tardy, Harassment, Discipline, Homework, Attendance, and Truancy Policies of the school and district will be followed. See student handbook. Respect and courtesy are expected at all times by everyone because disruptions interfere with the teaching and learning of students, it will not be tolerated.
“All CVUSD and TOHS attendance policies and procedures will be followed in this class. Students may be dropped from the class due to excessive truancies. These policies can be found on pages 7-8 of the CVUSD Annual Notice of Parents’ Rights and Responsibilities (available on the CVUSD website).”
(By Semester) Students are expected to be in their assigned seats with all necessary materials ready to begin work when the tardy bell rings. Five or more unexcused tardies will result in a contract and the issuance of a Saturday Work Study. Additional tardies will result in further disciplinary action. A student who is late by more than thirty (30) minutes will be issued an absence.
Consequences for tardiness:
1st-4th Offense: Teacher should notify parent
5+ Offenses: Administrator will notify parents, assign Saturday Work Study, and placed on contract
7+ Offenses: Administrator will notify parents, assign further disciplinary action
Used solely for the purposes of education when teacher directed, otherwise must be stowed away and on silent.
No cellphones during bathroom/water breaks. Must leave on designated area
All students with excused absences are allowed to make-up missed work. It is the student’s responsibility to request make-up assignments immediately upon return. All make-up work is due before the student takes the test for that unit.
Tests: Students who are absent on a test day must schedule a test time upon their return. Students who do not show up for their scheduled test will be given a “0” for that test until a retake replaces the missed test.
Students absent the day before a test are still expected to take the test with the class.
Labs: Students absent on a lab day will be exempt from that lab, but must make up the points by completing an alternative assignment. The actual lab cannot be made up. It is the responsibility of the students to ask for a make-up assignment.

Students are expected to maintain the highest standards of academic honesty and integrity. Academic dishonesty (cheating, plagiarism, forgery, etc.) will result in a grade of “F” for the assignment, conference with parent/guardian, and application of school district policies.
