VLSI Design Lab
The VLSI Design Lab has some of the latest and most advance EDA tools, FPGA boards and circuit solvers for analyzing 2D/3D integrated circuits and systems. These include:
Full-custom Cadence Design Suite
Ansys high-frequency and low-frequency EM solvers
Synopsys TCAD-Full university bundle and HSPICE simulator
Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA boards
NI Virtual Bench
The lab is currently housed in the J C Bose Block and primarily focuses on experimental studies for the UG courses. This facility is further augmented by setting up of the Nanoelectronics Research Lab with a dedicated 3D simulator tool, Synopsys TCAD-Full university bundle and HSPICE simulator. All the above software tools are hosted on two dedicated HP servers that support both these labs. For performing the UG experiments, several clients are networked with the servers as a part of the VLSI Design Lab.
Nanoelectronics Research Lab
The Nanoelectronics Research Lab (NRL), housed in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, was established in 2013. The main research focus is on design and optimization of nanoscale devices, circuits and interconnects for next generation ICs. This includes, graphene-based nano devices and interconnects, ultra-low loss interconnect pathways, and development of post-CMOS technologies. The lab has been setup using the start-up grants of the institute as well as that of Department of Science and Technology and Ministry of Electronics and IT.
