Welcome to the Nanoelectronics Research Group at the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Ropar. Our research lies at the intersection of nanoelectronics, high-speed integrated circuits, advanced semiconductor packaging, and heterogeneous integration. We are committed to developing next-generation electronic technologies that enable faster, more energy-efficient, and reliable computing and communication systems. By combining physics-based modeling, design automation, and machine learning, we address fundamental and applied challenges spanning devices, interconnects, packages, and system-level integration.
Our group comprises a vibrant team of highly motivated Ph.D., M.Tech., B.Tech., and visiting students working collaboratively on cutting-edge research. We actively collaborate with leading academic institutions, national laboratories, and semiconductor industries worldwide. Our research has been supported by the Department of Science and Technology), DST–Global Innovation & Technology Alliance, Defence Research and Development Organisation, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, IC-IMPACTS (Canada), Semiconductor Laboratory, and several industrial partners including Intel, Qualcomm, Tessolve, Dell EMC to name a few.
Our current research interests include:
High-speed on-chip and chip-to-chip interconnect modeling and design
Electrical–thermal co-design of advanced electronic packages and microsystems
Machine learning-assisted design and optimization of interconnects and packaging technologies
Graphene and other two-dimensional (2D) material-based nano-interconnects
Advanced semiconductor packaging and heterogeneous integration for AI, high-performance computing, and communication systems
Emerging nanoelectronic devices and neuromorphic hardware
Through our research, we strive to advance the frontiers of nanoelectronics and semiconductor technologies while translating innovative ideas into practical solutions with real-world impact.
We are always looking for motivated and enthusiastic students who are passionate about research in nanoelectronics, VLSI design, electronic packaging, and machine learning for hardware systems. If you are interested in pursuing a PhD, MTech, or undergraduate research project with our group, we encourage you to explore our research areas and get in touch. We welcome students who are eager to learn, contribute, and tackle challenging problems in next-generation electronic systems.
