Eddie Holmes Award 2012/2013

Post date: 12-Jun-2013 02:22:06

Chair Gino Monaco noted that this was an important time in the Club's Community Services calendar. The Eddie Holmes Award recognized people who had made a significant contribution to their local community. The Club by providing this award recognizes the time and effort so many people devote to community service.

This year two people from the organisation with the notable acronym of CRREPA (Canning River Residents Environmental Protection Association) are to receive the award. He invited Eddie Holmes to present the awards to Colma Keating and Grecian Sandwell. Colma informed us that CRREPA worked closely with the Canning City Council on foreshore environmental maintenance mainly from the Bull Creek inlet through to the Shelley Bridge. Their main aim is to ensure the continued environmental integrity of the foreshore despite continued extensive development throughout the area and some 49 stormwater drains feeding into the river. Both ladies have been involved in various executive and other roles since CRREPA was formed early in the 1990s. As can be seen in the Association's #38 news (address below) CRREPA attempts to involve people of all ages in its various tasks.

Colma presented us with a brief series of photographs of various CRREPA activities.
