The Winter Race on Lake Cayuga: A Tale of Old Aurora

With financial support from the Museum Association of New York and in honor of the Smithsonian's Aurora Water/Ways Exhibition, Water/Ways Artist in Residence Robert LoMascolo is pleased to announce a new book.

“Back in 1850, “The Knickerbocker” magazine started a short series on “The Lakes of New York.” One of these stories focused on Aurora. The anonymous author (who might just possibly have been Washington Irving) clearly visited friends in Aurora and knew something of its early settlement history. The resulting story, set in the early 1790s, is great fun!” - Dr. Linda Schwab, Village of Aurora Historian
