Description:
Upon completion of the group assignments, students access The Effective Collaborator Rubric in the Group Project Evaluation Assessment folder and evaluate both their individual performance and their team's performance. Assignment: 1. Access the Effective Collaborator Rubric from the attached file in this Assignment Folder.
2. Save the rubric to your work processing program. Be sure to put your name in the file name and on the rubric itself.
3. Select a color to use for your self-evaluation and make a note of that in the heading of the rubric. Highlight the sections or text for each rubric indicator that you feel applies to your individual work on the project using your color. You may also type in your score in each section of the rubric and color code it. Then post your individual total score at the top of the rubric.
4. Repeat step 3 for the group evaluation. If you are using the same sections on the rubric for both individual and group evaluation, then use your color for half the section and the group color for the other half of the section or you can just type in the group score in each applicable section and color code it!
5. Add color coded comments below the rubric if you'd like! I really appreciate detailed feedback on each assignment which I use to improve the next term's course!
6. Remember to save a copy of the rubric with your name included in the file name. Ex. Lauren.Ritchey.Eval
7. Submit you completed Effective Collaborator Rubric to the Assignment Folder as an attached file. Feel free to leave comments to me in the window if you wish.
Dr. McBride's "Modeling Moment": In this group project, each student had specific responsibilities while being supported and encouraged by their group members. It's a great way to enhance accountability and to continue to build a community of learners. By having students evaluate themselves and their peers using the Effective Collaborator Rubric, each student is accountable for the quality of their work and the instructor is provided with useful information for assessment purposes. Usually if a student or students do not fulfill their obligations to the group, it is reflected in the rubric by the individual or the other three group members. Fortunately, with this class, all evaluations were great!
The Collaborator Rubric:
My Scenario:
Students in my online class will also have the opportunity to evaluate their own performance as well as the performance of their group members. For my elementary age students, I would assign specific point values to the vertical categories of 4, 3, 2, or 1 and also make sure my rubric is written in language that 8 and 9-year-olds can understand. My group of students will complete one rubric for their own performance and one rubric for the performance of their group.
