Choral Works by Richard Wilson

In Schrafft's, a setting of Auden's poem for men's chorus and piano four-hands 1966

A Dissolve, a setting of Stephen Sandy's poem for women's chorus, 1968

Review in Notes of the Music Library Association:...close dissonant tone clusters, a relatively slow pace, chromatic portamentos, wid dynamic levels and a generallly experssionistic quality noted in the works for full charos. A style which appears to be reatly limited at first sight, unfolds into an extraordinarily expressive one, and it will repay all the effort necessary to bring it to performance. J.F Cook, Washington and Lee University]

Can, a setting of Stephen Sandy's poem for mixed chorus, 1968

Light in Spring Poplars

and

Soaking settings of Stephen Sandy's poem for mixed chorus, 1968

Review in Notes of the Music Library Association:...Moving at a slow pace, with masses of close dissonances they have an expressionistic quality which is mot satisfying. The compose demonstrates in "Soaking" that the joys of taking a bath can readily be glorified in his very contemporary language. A sure senso of pitch and rhythmic flexibility are essential to the performance of these works, but they are not beyond a good chorus. Because of their relative brevity, they can be learned within a sensible length of time  J.F Cook, Washington and Lee University]
