Received Signal Strength Indication = RSSI
RSSI inform about the power of received signal , not a quality . However usually when power is higher then quality is better .
RSSI is useful to indicate when RC range will gone if distance will increase .
Many of receivers have chips supplying RSSI output , in most cases is a chip pin giving voltage depending from received signal strength .
As in OSD we have some ADC to use 04. Additional sensors , so we can connect RSSI output from receiver to OSD's ADC , usually ADC2 (input pin I1)
If some receivers have not any analog RSSI output , still we can use indicating LED on receiver, when LED signal is possible to connect to ADC or T0 (frequency meter c. Frequency meter ex. Hall sensor )
Movie below show how simple is to connect and scale RSSI to display on OSD layout http://vimeo.com/4698633
