Philosophy: Of utmost importance is to provide an interesting, engaging musical experience geared towards each student individually to make lessons and practice as enjoyable as possible. Each student’s needs are met on an individual basis ranging from basic to accelerated. Piano lessons provide an excellent opportunity to develop a good work ethic, goal setting skills, and perseverance. It is a unique instrument, allowing a complete understanding and mastery of music. This knowledge can easily be transferred to any other musical instrument. As a teacher, I stress note reading skills and an understanding of rhythm from the beginning. Regular use of flash cards and duets help accomplish these goals. Building from these basics, a full understanding of scales and chords is taught. I provide classical music training, incorporating classical pieces early, with an emphasis on proper technique, and finger exercises to develop strength and control.
