Dear Studio Families,
With the exponential growth in Covid cases over the holidays, I will be boosting safety precautions in my piano studio. Please read and send an email that you agree to these policies to continue piano lessons in person.
Policies:
I will be providing each child with a Powecom KN95 mask to wear at piano lessons. (I should have these masks by the second week in January so please keep having your child wear one of their own well-fitting masks over the mouth and nose until I have received these.) You must agree to allowing your child to wear this mask. This mask should last for a couple of months since it will only be worn for 30-60 minutes at piano lessons. I will provide a new one at this time. I have chosen these masks as they are recommended by Scientific American and they allow for better breath-ability so the children will be safe AND comfortable. The masks must be worn properly and tightly over the nose and mouth.
Children will use the restroom prior to coming to piano lessons if at all possible and wash their hands for 30 seconds just prior to coming to piano lessons. My restroom will be available only in the event of an emergency. Children will be required to use hand sanitizer that I provide when they arrive at piano lessons.
Only one child will be allowed in to piano lessons at a time except those working on piano duos. Then two will be allowed.
Parents must be available by phone to come pick up their child immediately if they exhibit any covid symptoms or fever.
I will clean the piano between each child with Clorox wipes and will continue to run two hepa air filters during lessons. I will also have the windows cracked to allow fresh air to enter the room. Please have your child wear a light jacket to lessons so they are comfortable.
I very much appreciate all of the measures that all families have taken thus far. Many have alerted me to covid exposure and quarantine of their child, as well as illness of the child and have kept their child home and done online lessons.
Some children have had an ongoing battle at piano lessons with keeping their mask over their nose. Please find and use a well fitting mask for these next couple of weeks of piano lessons until the masks I have purchased come in. I do have a few child size KN95 masks available and will save them for the first lesson of the year for children who have had the greatest mask struggles. (It is hard for the little ones and I do very much feel for them!)
I know everyone is weary of Covid. I wish I did not have to ask for these measures, however, in teaching so many children from so many schools, I have always caught about one cold a month and certainly have passed on illnesses from other schools to my students. I just hate to see everyone suffer from unnecessary illness. I am doing all I can to make these measures as comfortable as possible.
You are all such wonderful families and students! We will be through this soon! Thank you for hanging in there with me! I love working with all of you!
Illness policies:
If your child is ill, I am happy to make up the lesson when they are feeling better. Please do not send your child to piano lessons sick. If they a child feels well but has a runny nose and wants to come to lessons, I ask that they wash their hands very well before lessons and come to lessons with a mask. If you do not have any masks, I will provide one for your child. Please let them know I may ask them to wear a mask. If you are opposed to masks, lets plan to do a make-up when your child is asymptomatic.
Cancellation policy:
If you would like to cancel lessons, please give a one month notice.
