8th March 2012
The inaugural Tour was held on 8th March 2011 to celebrate 100 years of International Women’s day. It was such a success we plan to make it a regular event. Tour participants visited sites of significance to women in Geelong and hear about women whom have been an important part of Geelong’s story but whose stories remain hidden and left out of the glossy tourist brochures.
The 2011 tour included a special opening of the Geelong Art Gallery and other areas of the cultural preccint to explore significant works by women artists, opportunities to hear first hand stories from women who have made a difference in Geelong and new insights into the buildings and places that have mattered to Geelong women.
