About The Randwick Organic Buyers Group

The Randwick Organic Buyers Group was started in 2006 by a group of parents connected with Randwick Public School. Their vision was to create a flexible, democratic group that would support local, sustainable food producers, making organic fruit and vegetables available at a reasonable price to members and providing an informal social space for locals to connect with each other. Similar groups existed in Kirribilli and Leichhardt that became part of the Food Connect network.

For nine years, the group operated out of the Randwick Outside of School Hours Care building on Monday evenings, until space issues led it to move to the Randwick Literary Institute in 2015. We have now found a more permanent home at a sustainability demonstration house in Randwick run by the inter-council "Reduce Your Footprint" project. We greatly appreciate the support from Randwick Council in being able to use this venue at no cost.

In late 2022 we joined the Sydney-wide Organic Buyers Group, and now run as a local group within this network.

We are now well and truly into our teenage years (17 in 2023!), a fantastic achievement for a small volunteer-run group.
