Radio Fire Alarm Box Installation
All installations must meet local, state and NFPA guidelines. Follow these steps to insure your installation goes as efficiently as possible. You will be coordinating the installation process with the local Fire Marshal as well as the Fire Alarm Superintendent.
1) The local Fire Marshal will work with you to determine the requirements for municipal connections and the zones necessary for reporting. Please contact the appropriate fire department first:
Station 1: Oakland-Mapeville Fire - (401) 568-5720
Station 2: Harrisville Fire - (401) 568-5110
Station 3: Nasonville Fire - (401) 568-5020
Station 4: Pascoag Fire - (401) 568-4470
2) Before ordering the radio fire alarm box, you must complete the Online Permit Application (preferred) or download the Permit Application below and return the completed form. There is no charge for the permit. The Fire Alarm Superintendent will assign the radio box number within 2 business days after the application is received. This number is required for an order to be submitted to Sigcom.
3) For the majority of installations, the Fire Alarm Superintendent will meet you onsite when you are ready to begin installation to open the box and go over any installation details with you. You must schedule this appointment 48 hours in advance either online here or by contacting the Fire Alarm Superintendent directly. Please have your Radio Box Installation permit with you. If the installation is complicated by antenna placement, long coax runs or other factors, it is advisable to meet with the Fire Alarm Superintendent before installation plans are made so that any issues can be addressed beforehand.
4) You must follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions carefully for proper operation. Download the Radio Box Installation Guide to aid in installation (See Forms & Documents).
5) The fire alarm box must be inspected, programmed and tested before the final acceptance test of the fire alarm system is completed. Please allow ample time for scheduling purposes. The Fire Alarm Superintendent will discuss this process with you during the initial site visit. If the installation is reporting more than one zone, please complete the Radio Box Zone Information Form at least 48 hours before this inspection.
